Professional Development: Residency Opportunities in SBISD

When asked what they want for their children parents overwhelmingly agree that they want the best teacher possible in every classroom. Research confirms that the most important factor contributing to a student’s success in school is the quality of teaching. While parents may not be familiar with the research, they are united in their desire to ensure great teaching for every child every day.

That's why SBISD is excited to share RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITIES with our educators.  This new PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY is just one of many options SBISD offers to educators in our school district.  You are our most important investment!  Click here to read more.

What are RESIDENCIES?

RESIDENCIES are targeted trainings designed to engage the learner in 1, 2 or 3 day experiences over a 3-4 week time period. After each learning experience, participants will be expected to apply learning in their own classrooms and bring their experience back to the group.
Principals MUST approve a teacher’s participation in a RESIDENCY due to the fact that he/she will be funding the substitutes. Once approved, the registration link can be obtained from the campus principal or iCoach.
